The Virgin London Marathon, April 25th 2010

The London Marathon is one of the most popular road marathons and has been held each year since 1981. It was founded by the former Olympic champion and renowned journalist Chris Brasher and John Disely. Over 711,260 finishers have raised, it is estimated, more than £400 million in sponsorship for numerous charities over the years. A record breaking £46.5 million was raised for good causes in the 2007 event, making the London Marathon a Guinness world record holder as the largest single annual fund raising event in the world.

2010 sees Virgin as the new sponsor of the London Marathon, race director David Bedford has said:
